Dear Madam/Sir, As residents living in Merwedeplantsoen, 2105 VM, Heemstede, we are contacting you regarding the municipality plan for an environmental permit for the use of an office as a temporary shelter for Ukrainian displaced persons in Herenweg 55, 2105MC Heemstede. We would like to formally voice our concerns and vote against the proposed development to accommodate displaced people in our neighborhood. We recognize the importance of supporting displaced individuals, but believe this neighborhood cannot provide the necessary resources and infrastructure for their well-being. The area is residential and lacks essential facilities such as schools, healthcare centers, or commercial areas that would help these individuals integrate. The building itself and the neighborhood do not even have a playground or recreational spaces for children, which would be critical for families. Additionally, the existing infrastructure may struggle to support the increased population. We are also concerned about the impact this development could have on the quality of life for current residents, particularly in terms of noise levels and utility use. We are worried that such a major change could lead to challenges for both the displaced individuals and the existing community.

We believe that an alternative location with better access to facilities and services would be much more appropriate for this development. We kindly request that the municipality reconsider this decision and explore other options. According to the email below, there is also a possibility to attend the commissie Samenleving meeting to voice our concerns. We are happy to do so if needed and it is still possible.
