Dear mrs. Qin, In 2017 we established an economic bond between the cities of Jiashan and Capelle aan den IJssel bij signing a Memorandum of Understanding. In the years following we received visitors from Jiashan in Capelle aan den IJssel and delegations from Capelle aan den IJssel and the region visited Jiashan. Connections were made between Chinese and Dutch companies, in order to enhance economic cooperation. In the last few years we all suffered from the world-wide Covid pandemic, which made it impossible to travel. The pandemic has had economic and social consequences all over the world and of course also in our city. In the forthcoming years we will have to focus on reinforcing our local economy and therefore we will put less effort in international cooperation. Our city council has decided to not continue our economic bond with Jiashan. We trust that you will understand the reasons behind this decision. We would like to express our appreciation for the efforts you made in building our economic partnership and mutual friendship.
