The SISG, Gemeente Amsterdam's programme for sexual violence, has a specific, gender exclusive, focus on women and girls. According to data published by the CBS LHBT Monitor, gay and bisexual men experience the second-highest rate of sexual violence of all populations. According to Gemeente Amsterdam's own data, gay men are as likely to experience street harassment as some women. According to research on MSM victimhood from the University of Glasgow, these data are highly likely to be underreported. The gender-exclusive approach the Gemeente is taking is counter to the RCGOG (Regeringscommisaris on sexual violence) approach of gender-mainstreaming and acts to marginalise further, vulnerable male victims who feel unsafe within the gay community. The SISG website states that where populations are particularly vulnerable outside of the focus group, possibilities to assist will be explored. We have strong interaction with Gemeentes Den Haag, Eindhoven and Rotterdam, yet our interaction with Gemeente Amsterdam is unconstructive. Amsterdam is a beacon for LGBTQ+ rights and safety, yet the non-inclusive approach to social safety is contributing to the victimisation of men on a weekly basis. Why is Gemeente Amsterdam excluding gay and bisexual men in their SISG programme? What is the council doing to reduce the risk of sexual violence to gay and bisexual men, and support victims?
