After seven months of constructions, the Daniel Stalpertstraat if finally open. However, as if seven months are not enough, for the last few days, the street is being used as a major parking lot by the city hall contractors, that are working nearby. They come every morning, use their work equipment and block the Daniel Stalpertstraat, so they can park their own private cars, until about 15:00 when they finish their work. Please take a look at the images attached to my email. This parking violation is not new. These people have been parking their cars in the Pijp every day against the law, without any interference from the authorities. That “Broken Windows” phenomena is now deteriorated to a full street blocking. As constructions on the northern part of Frans Hals straat and Daniel Stalpertstraat ended, the street is fully accessible and should be opened for traffic.
You can see that in the working plan generated by your relevant department. Parking illegally is one offence. The pother major offence is abusing constructions equipment and the duty in order to park private cares and turn all neighborhood’s life into a turmoil. As this is lasting for a week at my street and given that it will take the Hadhaving department a few days to resolve, I kindly bring it to your attention, so you can stop once and for all the illegal parking of city hall constructors in the Pijp. As I mentioned, this is not a one time solution. It requires a major long lasting enforcement, both on the street parking and the construction department of Amsterdam. Kind regards, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
