Nivy bus station

2

Old Bus Station •

Construction took eight years 1975 – 1983

•

The Mlynské Nivy bus station served its purpose for 34 years.

•

During that time, it did not undergo any major reconstruction, which resulted in its neglected condition.

•

It was eventually closed on October 1, 2017, and demolition work began shortly thereafter.

Temporary Station Bottova Street • On the day the old station closed, a temporary bus station on Bottova Street opened its gates. • The developer HB Reavis invested €6.5 million in its construction. • The station featured a total of 34 bus platforms and five drop-off bays. It also offered a comfortably equipped waiting area with free restrooms and public Wi-Fi, retail outlets, bicycle stands, phone charging stations, and luggage storage. • It served its purpose until September 2021, when a new chapter began.

Communication, community, transparency • From the very outset, the communication strategy for the Nivy Center project was designed to foster a strong emotional connection between future customers and the development. • At the same time, as the construction had a direct impact on the daily life of the city, we placed great emphasis on transparency and employed a wide range of open communication tools and channels.

Ventilation Special ventilation ensures 180,000 m³ of fresh air per hour on the platforms. If necessary, this amount can be increased to up to 1,500,000 m³ per hour, which is enough air for almost 41,700 people. The air supply is provided through openings to the outside environment using negative pressure. To enhance passenger comfort, this air is cooled during the summer months using adiabatic cooling technology.

14

Adaption to a new situation Due to a change in the strategy for regional bus transport managed by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region, it was necessary to optimize the original concept. The decline in bus arrivals and departures is approximately 40% compared to 2021.

The station was designed for 2500 connections per day, the utilization in 2021 was 1500 connections, and today it is around 900 connections per day. In the summer of 2025, the reconstruction of part of the platforms began.
